About Me

I love my career, but I am also passionate about leading an active life. I have a large family and we enjoy biking, fishing, backpacking and dirt motorcycling. My active life outside of my career has helped me focus on making my practice more efficient and profitable.
Since 2003 I have worked extensively to co-create an electronic medical record (EMR) system that has revolutionized my practice. I had become frustrated with programs that seemed to fall short because they were built and designed by someone who had no idea how doctors have been trained to gather and store information. The technology that I was being presented seemed to create a whole new learning system that was counter intuitive to what I have used for so many years in my practice. Out of frustration, I became an EMR expert and helped develop Chartshare.
I have practiced psychiatry in Boise, Idaho since 1990. My primary focus is on patients needing medications to manage their illness. Sage Health Care is a practice I co-founded where I treat biologically based mental illnesses: depression, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and attention deficit disorder. I also have extensive experience treating patients with co-existing alcohol and polysubstance abuse.
My unique combination of medical practice and experience with techology partners allows me to help shape the future of EMR Software.
